PENAMPANG, Aug 25, 2025 – Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick has allocated RM400,000 to two schools in the district for infrastructure upgrades and facility improvements.

At St Michael Secondary School, Ewon, in his capacity as the local MP, announced a RM200,000 grant from the Federal Finance Ministry to build a roof over the school’s parking area. He said the approval followed his submission of the school’s request to Second Finance Minister Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

“This allocation complements the concrete parking area previously funded through my parliamentary constituency allocation,” he told reporters.

During a brief visit, Ewon also inspected old classroom blocks that require structural repairs and presented contributions to a delegation of St Michael students set to participate in the ISCEP Programme in Korea.

At Yue Min Chinese Primary School (SJKC Yue Min), he handed over another RM200,000 grant from the Federal Finance Ministry to upgrade the parking area, which is often flooded during the rainy season due to overflow from a nearby drain. He also inspected internal access roads at the school that need resurfacing.

In his capacity as Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Ewon reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting education infrastructure in Penampang.

“I am committed to being part of the solution to the development needs of schools in this area,” he said.
