MNC Should Lead the Development of the Momogun Economic Identity – Ewon

Penampang, 13 July 2025 – Datuk Ewon Benedick has called on the Momogun National Congress (MNC) and its 77 affiliated ethnic associations to take the lead in developing the economic identity of the Momogun community.

According to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, strengthening the community’s economy must be driven by the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as competitive cooperatives.

“I want to see the leadership of MNC elevate the economic identity of this community so that it can compete in the national economic landscape,” he said while officiating the Swearing-In Ceremony for the MNC President and Supreme Council Members at Wisma Kinsabina.

He further explained that under the 13th Malaysia Plan (2026–2030), his ministry (KUSKOP) will focus on scaling up MSMEs to produce more high-impact and high-growth businesses.

As part of the Domestic Look East Policy, Ewon is also prioritising targeted economic development initiatives for Sabah and Sarawak. Among the initiatives introduced so far include:

  • BEEP PLUS Grant (by SME Corp)
  • Financing Scheme for Tamu Entrepreneurs & Craft Industry (by TEKUN Nasional)
  • Tamu Desa Project (by KUSKOP)

He also announced the approval of a special allocation of RM100,000 to support the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples celebration organised by MNC and other Momogun ethnic associations.
