KENINGAU (Sabah, Malaysia), Sept 13 – Hundreds of young Catholics from Bingkor Zone, greater Keningau, as well as delegates from Beaufort, Tenom and the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu are expected to convene at the Bingkor Youth Camp 2.0 (BYC 2) from Sept 15 to 18 at St. Mary’s Church, Bingkor.
The four-day program focuses on youth character development through spiritual formation, leadership sessions and community service. Its highlight, the Mission Walk, will take place on Sept 17, beginning at 7:30 a.m. in Kampung Sandapak.
Participants will move in groups while carrying out mission tasks, including community service such as collecting litter along the route. The initiative aims to instill volunteerism, environmental awareness and foster closer ties with local residents.
“Mission Walk is designed to let young people experience service directly within the community,” said BYC 2.0 coordinator Samuel Unau Asong Atam. “We hope it will not only strengthen youth–community relations, but also ignite a spirit of service among the younger generation.”
Kampung Sandapak village chief Ambrus Enggu Ungkiu Singgon urged residents to lend their full support to ensure the program’s success.
