KOTA BELUD (Sabah, Malaysia), 4 October 2025 — In a continuous effort to strengthen rural development and ensure that progress reaches every level of society, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives and Kadamaian State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Ewon Benedick, conducted an extensive working visit today to inspect the implementation and progress of various community development projects across several villages in Kadamaian, Kota Belud.
The field visit — covering Kampung Gonok, Kebidahan, Bundu Lapak, Takulung, Lompios, Podi and Piak — reflected Ewon’s hands-on leadership approach and his strong commitment to community empowerment and inclusive rural growth.
At Kampung Gonok, Ewon inspected the construction of a multi-purpose open hall, funded through the Kadamaian ADUN allocation under the Kota Belud District Office. He expressed confidence that the facility would become an important hub for community activities and social engagement upon completion.
He also visited Kampung Kebidahan and Bundu Lapak, where two new open halls have been completed through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Federal Territory Cooperative Movement, in collaboration with the respective Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK). Ewon commended the cooperative movement for supporting rural development through inclusive community engagement.
At Kampung Takulung, he reviewed the site of a hanging bridge project that will soon begin construction using the Kadamaian ADUN allocation. Ewon noted that the project is not only vital for connectivity but also essential for community safety, especially during the rainy season.
His visit continued at Kampung Lompios, where he inspected the construction of the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Church, which utilizes Industrialized Building System (IBS) technology. During the inspection, Ewon announced an additional allocation of RM30,000 to help complete the church before the upcoming Christmas celebration — symbolizing his compassion and solidarity with the local Christian community.
Ewon later attended a Community Engagement Session in Kampung Podi, held in conjunction with the launch of the Tamu Desa Podi Project, designed as an open-hall market concept. The RM200,000 project, implemented by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), is currently in its early construction phase. Once completed, it will provide improved trading facilities for local micro-entrepreneurs relocating from the old market site — part of KUSKOP’s broader strategy to strengthen rural entrepreneurship ecosystems.
He also took time to interact with local vendors offering traditional delicacies, agricultural produce, and handicrafts, emphasizing that rural economic progress must be supported by solid infrastructure and inclusive development policies.
The visit concluded at Kampung Piak, where Ewon inspected a newly completed community open hall, funded through the Special Ministerial Allocation of the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, channelled directly to the village JKKK.
“Developing Kadamaian is not only about building physical structures — it’s about building hope and strengthening community connections. Every project implemented here represents collaboration between the people, the government, and the cooperative movement — this is Kadamaian’s true strength,” Ewon said.
He reiterated that the ongoing implementation of these grassroots projects demonstrates the government’s and stakeholders’ unwavering commitment to community well-being, inclusive economic opportunities, and ensuring that no village is left behind in Malaysia’s national development agenda.
