PENAMPANG: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) is ready to support the development of the creative industry in Sabah through the provision of financing for entrepreneurs in the sector.
Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said Sabah has significant potential in film, visual arts, and digital content, especially among young entrepreneurs.
He encouraged the Sabah Film and Visual Association (SAFVA) to establish a cooperative to facilitate access to financing offered by agencies under KUSKOP.
Ewon made the remarks after receiving a courtesy visit from SAFVA, led by its President, Chester Pang. During the meeting, SAFVA presented their activities and highlighted key challenges such as funding limitations, training needs, and market access.
KUSKOP also shared several relevant initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurship in the creative industry, with an emphasis on youth participation through strategic support and financial access.
SAFVA currently has 158 members, consisting of producers, directors, production crew, and actors.
