Zara Qairina’s Grave Exhumed, New Autopsy Expected to be Key in Bullying Probe
13-year-old believed to be bullying victim at Papar school; court orders exhumation a month after death
SIPITANG (Sabah, Malaysia), Aug 9 – Authorities have exhumed the grave of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir in Kampung Tanjung Ubi, Mesapol Lama, to conduct a post-mortem that was not performed when she died on July 16.
The exhumation, which began at around 5:30 p.m., was witnessed by a magistrate, prosecutors, the victim’s mother, legal counsel, religious officials, and forensic specialists from Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. The order was issued by the Sipitang Magistrate’s Court via an online proceeding.
