PENAMPANG, Malaysia, Aug 25 – The dedication of staff at the Penampang Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PPDK) in educating and caring for children with special needs must be honoured and respected, said Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He said the extraordinary commitment shown by teachers and parents at the centre reflected resilience and compassion that should serve as an example.
“I truly appreciate the parents and teachers here who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in educating special needs children. My presence today reflects continuous support for PPDK Penampang’s efforts,” he said during a National Month celebration with trainees, parents and teachers at the centre.
PPDK Penampang currently accommodates 60 trainees supported by five teachers and a supervisor. In June, Ewon allocated RM20,000 for the centre’s needs, and during his latest visit, he announced an additional RM20,000 to further improve its facilities.
In a separate visit, Ewon also handed over food aid for the No Turning Back 9.0 programme organised by the WRS Sabah Four-Wheel Drive Club, to be held in Mesapol, Sipitang from Aug 28 to Sept 1. The event will gather 60 vehicles from club members and include the distribution of 100 food baskets to the local community.
“As Patron of WRS Club, I value all initiatives that foster cooperation, solidarity and unity among members and the wider community,” he added.
