KOTA BELUD (Sabah, Malaysia), Malaysia, Aug 24 (Reuters) – Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening rural entrepreneurs in Sabah through the Open Day Programme of the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN) Sabah Campus (HATI) Series 4/2025, organised by INSKEN under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said the programme reflects the government’s ongoing effort to build an inclusive and balanced entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly for communities in rural areas.

“The establishment of the INSKEN Campus in Sabah demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that access to knowledge, technology and business support is available to all, especially entrepreneurs in this state,” he said at the launch of the programme in Kota Belud on Sunday.

Ewon added that the initiative focuses on introducing new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to help hawkers and small traders manage their businesses more efficiently and profitably.

“Programmes like this serve as a strategic platform to enhance the competitiveness of our entrepreneurs, ensuring they remain resilient and capable of competing in the digital era,” he said.

The HATI Series 4/2025 follows last week’s programme in Sepanggar, which drew the participation of more than 260 Sabah entrepreneurs.

Ewon also urged local entrepreneurs to take full advantage of INSKEN’s training and mentoring opportunities, while expressing appreciation to the Sabah State Government, KUSKOP agencies and the entrepreneurial community for their continued commitment to business development.
