KOTA BELUD (Sabah, Malaysia), Aug 24, 2025 – Residents of Terintidon Village are now enjoying improved community facilities after the refurbishment of the village hall under the Site Training and Community Service Program (PLTKK) organized by the Contractors Service Centre (PKK).
Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said the initiative reflects the government’s dual approach of empowering Bumiputera contractors through hands-on training while delivering tangible benefits to rural communities.
“Through PLTKK, Bumiputera contractors are given the opportunity to enhance their technical skills while earning CCD points from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). At the same time, community infrastructure is upgraded for residents’ use,” he said at a dialogue session with villagers and Bumiputera contractors in Kota Belud today.
The refurbishment of the Terintidon Village Hall included repainting, upgrading of windows and other facilities, as well as the installation of a solar lighting system, with a total allocation of RM50,000.
As of July 31, 2,622 Bumiputera contractors in Sabah had registered with PKK and obtained Bumiputera Status Certificates, including 1,123 grade G1 contractors. Ewon said PKK’s continued efforts to build contractor capacity and strengthen community linkages demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving living standards, particularly in rural areas.
At the same program, the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (SKM) organized the Madani Cooperative and Entrepreneur Sale (JMKU), offering a 50 percent discount on essential goods such as rice, flour, and cooking oil. Of the discount, 30 percent was subsidized by SKM while the remaining 20 percent was funded by the Kadamaian State Assemblyman’s Office.
“JMKU not only eases the people’s cost of living with affordable prices, but also broadens the market reach for local entrepreneurs and cooperatives,” Ewon added.
As the State Assemblyman for Kadamaian, he also announced a ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ (Touch of Love) allocation of RM26,000 for various small-scale projects in the village, including the construction of public toilets, a tagal hut, village hall entrance gate, church kitchen, and a concrete footbridge.
