TENOM, Sept 5, 2025 – The wave of support for the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) is gaining strength in Tenom with the launch of the Kg Nanapokan branch, which welcomed 53 new members, including youths and women.
The new branch, led by Radin Amat, further strengthens UPKO’s foothold in the Melalap constituency ahead of the upcoming 17th Sabah state election (PRN-17).
UPKO Melalap chief, Junik Bajit, in his speech, stressed that the warm reception from Kg Nanapokan residents reflects the people’s confidence in UPKO’s political struggle in Tenom.
“The entry of 53 new members is a clear signal that the people of Kg Nanapokan believe in our struggle. UPKO will continue to stay close to the people, listen to their voices, and consistently champion local issues,” he said.
The ceremony also saw the appointment of the branch’s pro-tem committee and a friendly gathering with villagers.
This significant influx of new members signals a new wave of political awakening in Tenom, reinforcing UPKO’s grassroots machinery in its mission to win the hearts of the people of Tenom, particularly in the Melalap constituency, ahead of PRN-17.
