KOTA BELUD, Malaysia, Sept 22, 2025 – Kadamaian state assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick reaffirmed his long-term commitment to education by disbursing RM67,400 in initial study aid to 160 students from Kadamaian who are set to pursue degrees and diplomas at universities and colleges nationwide.
Ewon, who also serves as Malaysia’s Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, said education remains central to his mission of building Kadamaian’s future, describing investments in young people as the most sustainable path to community and national progress.
The initiative, introduced in 2023, provides RM500 for undergraduates and RM300 for diploma students, and has since become a highly anticipated annual support programme for families across Kadamaian.
“I will continue this programme as long as I am entrusted as Kadamaian’s assemblyman. My hope is that students will complete their studies successfully, make their families proud and contribute to the development of Kadamaian, Sabah and Malaysia,” Ewon said during a brief ceremony at his constituency service centre.
For many rural families, the aid is more than just financial relief – it is a symbol of opportunity. Denver Alan Sauntin, an automotive engineering student at Universiti Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia France Institute, expressed his gratitude.
“This contribution from Datuk Ewon has truly helped ease my financial burden as I begin my studies,” he said.
Another recipient, Nelly Lolla Abidin from Kampung Gaur, pursuing the same course, said the assistance was both practical and motivating.
“This support is very meaningful. It not only helps me financially but also inspires me to pursue my education with greater determination,” she noted.
Ewon’s initiative reflects a broader mission: to use education as a tool for social mobility and poverty alleviation, ensuring that Kadamaian’s youth can break barriers, uplift their communities and shape a brighter future for Sabah and Malaysia.
