KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), 2 Sept 2025 — UPKO Women’s Wing has voiced a strong call for the party to continue using its official flag and logo in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), describing it as a symbol of struggle, consistency, and the dignity of the people.
UPKO Women’s Exco, Ferlita Ubara, stressed that the party flag is not merely a piece of cloth fluttering in the wind, but the very heartbeat of a struggle deeply rooted in the soul of Sabah’s people.
“The UPKO flag is a symbol of dignity and pride for the people of Sabah. It reflects our courage in fighting for the people’s rights without compromise. For UPKO Women, this is not just a political suggestion, but an absolute necessity,” she said.

This sentiment was strongly echoed at the grassroots. Puan Rosena Kuduas from UPKO Pekan Branch, Telupid added:
“The grassroots have long carried the UPKO flag as a banner of struggle. Replacing or using a symbol that is not accepted by the people of Sabah would only invite loss and weaken morale.”
Meanwhile, Puan Beatrice Binti Tangilan from Kg. Malagatan Kecil, Tongod, Kuamut reaffirmed:
“The UPKO logo is not just a symbol, but proof of the party’s commitment and consistency in its struggle. It stands as a clear sign that UPKO has always stood with the people, never retreating even a step.”
From the leadership at the top, to the grassroots, and extending into the remote villages, the UPKO voice resonates as one united call of struggle. Loyalty to the flag and logo is not merely political consistency, but also elevates UPKO as the beacon of hope for the people of Sabah in the lead-up to the 17th state election.
