TENOM, 23 July 2025 —The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) continues to reinforce its grassroots machinery as UPKO Division Chief for N.42 Melalap, Junik Bajit, conducted an official visit to Kampung Pansailon, Tenom today to oversee the formal appointment process of a new local branch leader.
Azmawe Ansauk, identified as a capable and credible leader, submitted his completed party membership form during a formal verification session witnessed by his nominator, Magdelina Chew Mei Ling, the Branch Chief of Seri Mantailang. Mr. Junik was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Biyanah Marcus Ontobon.
This initiative is part of UPKO’s broader effort to restructure its grassroots leadership network in preparation for an intensified phase of organisational development in rural areas. The party also seeks to foster greater political participation among local communities through clean, progressive, and resilient leadership models.
In addition to party matters, Mr. Junik presented an official contribution in support of the upcoming SIB Church Leadership Seminar scheduled to take place in Kota Kinabalu. The gesture reflects UPKO’s commitment to empowering spiritual leadership, which plays a critical role in strengthening community unity and resilience.
“UPKO firmly believes that the strength of any political organisation begins at the grassroots. We are committed to nurturing local leaders who are not only capable, but also deeply attuned to the needs and aspirations of the people,” Mr. Junik said in a statement to the media.
He emphasised that UPKO’s mission goes beyond electoral preparation, aiming instead to drive holistic rural development through cross-sector collaboration — including faith-based institutions, education, and civil society.
This visit is part of a series of ongoing organisational strengthening efforts across the N.42 Melalap constituency, under UPKO’s long-term strategy to deepen public engagement and improve the effectiveness of its community outreach.
