TENOM, 29 July 2025 – The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Tenom Division is intensifying preparations ahead of the upcoming Sabah State Election (PRN), expected to be held in the near future. As part of its readiness strategy, a special briefing session was held today at the Saga Polling District Centre (PDM), aimed at streamlining grassroots operations.

The session was led by UPKO Tenom Division Chief, Junik Bajit, and attended by UPKO branch leaders from across the PDM area. Junik was warmly received by PDM Saga Chief, Mohd Fazli @ Justin B. Abdullah, along with members of the local committee. The strong turnout reflected the high level of commitment and enthusiasm among grassroots members ahead of the 17th state polls.

“We cannot afford to be complacent. The entire machinery must be equipped with a clear strategy, effective communication, and a strong spirit of teamwork. This is not just about the party — it’s about the future of our community,” Junik emphasised in his speech.

UPKO Tenom’s proactive move, particularly in the Melalap state constituency, demonstrates the party’s determination to be well-organised and election-ready, without solely relying on the official announcement of the State Assembly’s dissolution.

Beyond strategic planning, UPKO is also positioning itself to play a larger role in shaping the political direction of the state, especially in key rural constituencies like Melalap.

Notably, during the same programme, UPKO also allocated support funds to UPKO Youth PDM Saga to organise a Bead Embroidery Workshop, a community-based skills development initiative. The fund was received by youth representative Wilson, and the workshop is scheduled to be held at Balairaya Saga.

According to Junik, initiatives like this are crucial in equipping youth with new skills and providing them with opportunities for economic empowerment.

“We want our youth to have the opportunity to thrive. This is not just a programme—it is a long-term investment in the future of our villages and our people,” he said.
