SANDAKAN (Sabah, Malaysia) 2 Sept 2025 – The Information Chief of UPKO Malaysia, Dr. Peter Naintin, emphasized that efforts to eradicate bullying must begin at the school level through systematic and continuous awareness programmes.

He stressed that the role of Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs) is crucial in working closely with schools to design and implement activities that not only support students’ holistic development but also foster a safe, inclusive, and bully-free learning environment.

“The increasing number of bullying cases, including the incident involving Zara Qarina, clearly shows that this issue cannot be taken lightly. It demands urgent attention and must be addressed through a comprehensive approach,” he said.

Dr. Peter further reminded that the fight against bullying is not the sole responsibility of schools, but requires the involvement of all parties – parents, communities, non-governmental organisations, and government agencies – to safeguard the safety and well-being of the younger generation.
