KOTA KINABALU  (Sabah, Malayssia) – The future of Sabah can only be secured through strong unity between its leaders and the people, said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He urged Sabahans to continue fostering solidarity and cooperation to ensure the state remains stable, progressive, and well-positioned for long-term growth.

Ewon, who is also President of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), noted that while Sabah has achieved significant progress over the past 62 years, its development journey is far from over and requires a collective commitment from all stakeholders.

“Sixty-two years ago, Sabah declared its independence, paving the way for a sovereign state government before becoming part of the Federation of Malaysia.

“Over this period, many achievements have been made, but the road ahead remains long. It requires unity, solidarity, and cooperation from both leaders and the people of Sabah.

“May the next 62 years, and the years beyond, bring greater progress for Sabah. Happy Sabah Day to all,” he said.

Ewon made the remarks after attending the Sabah Day 2025 Celebration at Padang Merdeka here on Sunday.

The event was officiated by Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin
