PENAMPANG (Sabah, Malaysia), Sept 19, 2025 – In a spirit of compassion and solidarity, seven agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) have extended nearly RM200,000 in corporate social responsibility (CSR) aid to assist flood and landslide victims in Sabah.
Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the contributions go beyond numbers, representing love, care and empathy for the 1,907 families struggling to rebuild their lives after the disaster.
“Each contribution carries profound humanitarian meaning. It signifies that the people of Sabah are never left to endure hardship alone – we stand together with them in these trying times,” he said during the aid handover ceremony here today.
The assistance, which includes food baskets, medical supplies and daily essentials such as disposable diapers, has already begun reaching families in Penampang, Kadamaian and Papar. Further distributions will continue in phases until all affected households are covered.
The agencies involved in this humanitarian mission are TEKUN Nasional, Bank Rakyat, the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), the Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMa), SME Bank, and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS).
Specifically, TEKUN Nasional allocated RM50,000 to support 500 families, including small entrepreneurs impacted by the disaster. SKM contributed 560 food baskets worth RM56,000 for residents in Penampang and Kadamaian.
Bank Rakyat distributed 400 food baskets valued at RM40,000, while SME Bank provided 200 baskets worth RM20,000. INSKEN allocated RM10,000 in CSR aid for 127 families in Penampang, while IKMa contributed 170 food baskets worth RM17,000 in Penampang and Kadamaian.
Meanwhile, PERNAS announced the distribution of 100 food baskets worth RM10,000 to be delivered to affected households in the coming days.
Ewon emphasized that this collective effort is a testament to KUSKOP’s commitment to humanity.
“In every tragedy, the values of humanity and solidarity are the true remedy for grief. The initiatives by KUSKOP agencies stand as living proof that government and people are united, shoulder to shoulder, in facing life’s challenges,” he said.
